CEDERNA-GARALUR is a non-profit making association created in 1991 to promote the economic and social development of the Mountain Area of Navarre.

The Association encompasses the local councils in the Navarre Mountain Area and a group of Business Organisations, Trade Unions, Professional Farming Organisations, in addition to Cultural, Sports and Rural Tourism Organisations, Financial Entities and other Collaborating Entities, all in all, there are a total of 109 members.

Cederna Garalur employs a team of experts in local development and rural innovation, to provide support to companies and entrepreneurs in areas relating to new technologies, employment management, tourism and European information.

The Association has a Network of Centres distributed throughout the different districts of the Navarre Mountain Area, comprising a Rural Development Centre, eight Local Development Agencies and three Service Centres.

 

 

 

Cederna Garalur operates in the Navarre Mountain Area, an extensive territory covering the northern half of the Autonomous Region of Navarre and occupying a surface area of 4,900 km2, with a population of 80,000 inhabitants, 126 municipalities and a 100-km border with France.

The Cederna Garalur strategy encompasses five general objectives:

  • To develop innovative projects that promote development in the Navarre Mountain Area.
  • To bring New Technologies closer to the Territory.
  • To develop the Navarre Mountain Area as a Tourist Destination.
  • To improve Communications throughout the Territory

Cederna Garalur in Europe…

Continuously promoting and developing co-operation schemes with other European regions and with quality partners in specific topics directed at transferring knowledge and experience to the Navarre Mountain Area.

Regional Coperation

Collaborating with prestigious Entities in Navarre, which complement the work carried out by the CEDERNA-GARALUR technical team, bringing their services closer to the Navarre Mountain Area and participating in innovative schemes.

Cederna Garalur is a regular collaborator with the principal Business Associations, Technology Centres, Universities, Rural Development Entities and Financial Entities present in Navarre, and also with various Navarre Government Departments.

European Coperation

Favouring the opening-up of the Navarre Mountain Area and promoting relations with other European regions in order to stimulate the interchange of information and experiences, reflection and joint work in different sectors of activity.

Cederna Garalur has worked with partners in other European Regions on subjects relating to Employment, the Environment, Rural tourism, New Technologies (NICT), Training, Cultural Heritage, Business Services, Equal Opportunities, Entrepreneur Support, Organic Farming, the Marketing of Craft products and Agro-food companies.

European Projects

Cederna Garalur has participated in and managed European Projects in the Navarre Mountain area, corresponding to European Union Programs and relating to Rural Development (LEADER I, LEADER II, LEADER +), Employment (ADAPT, NOW, EQUAL), Trans-border co-operation (INTERREG II, INTERREG III) and other programs such as RESIDER, LEONARDO or Article 10 FEDER.

For these projects, CEDERNA-GARALUR has worked with partners in other Spanish regions as well as in France, Portugal, Italy, Ireland, Great Britain, Greece, Cyprus and Switzerland.
